Halfway through 2019. Mr. Bull has a few words.

Well you’re probably saying to yourself that’s a hell of a way to start a post! I couldn’t agree more. As promised, I posted a few weeks ago this quote that really resonated with me and said a future post on it is coming.

“I’ve never seen any life transformation that didn’t begin with the person in question finally getting sick of their own bullshit.”

– Elizabeth Gilbert

So being we’re halfway through 2019, I’m going to call out some of my bullshit in areas in my life I’m supposedly working on. This post isn’t intended by any means to get loving don’t beat yourself up Dwight comments. In fact any get off your ass comments would be much appreciated and much respected!!

Here goes in no special order the things I wanted to make process on this year:

Lose 25 pounds

Mr. Bull: That’s Bullshit! You haven’t committed to one diet or plan of attack. You got Oreos in the fridge and junk food in the cupboards. When the hell are you going to bust a move on this? You can fricken do it if you just put your mind to it and tell that tummy to chilllll.

Get fit

Mr. Bull: That’s Bullshit! You have consistently been inconsistent on your workouts. You know what to do and have the tools to use. Start way way small and start building up a routine.

Get more social (like in person)

Mr. Bull: That’s Bullshit! You’ve had maybe 4 social outings this year. You haven’t pushed yourself in this area at all. You stay home in your comfort zone wishing for friends you can do things with. I know it’s “hard” for you, but come on man so is being lonely. Believe it or not there are people out there that are looking for the same things you are – real friends.

Battle my dragons (depression)

Mr. Bull: That’s Bullshit! You started off the year great taking on the fight and even documenting some of the tools here, BUT again you’re not using these tool in a daily practice as you KNOW that’s what it takes.

There’s probably more but to be honest I’m quite tired of all this bullshitπŸ€ͺ. Come the end of 2019 I’m go to make big gains in these areas and tell Mr. Bull to go frick off and don’t come back.

Any other bullshitters out there? Let’s get it done and motivate each other.

Hell Yah,

Dwight

* Reminder – you can’t be kind or give Mr. Bull an inch!

  1. Haha loved this so much. I am definitely a massive bullshitter at times in this regard. This morning I had a similar thought track. Did my yoga and my walk and my writing and right now am getting dentist stuff sorted out for the kids. Albeit all in a semi-distracted sort of way. 😏 Rock on Dwight! Great post.

  2. Hello Mr Bullshit it’s Ms Bullshit here bahahaha. I’m with yah buddy and guess what I have decided I’m signing up for the half marathons AND I really need to lose weight and a decent amount of it (I don’t want to carry extra weight all that bloody distance). I am hoping that the extra exercise with training and doing the half marathons will help with the depression and the weight πŸ™‚ Right there with yah Dwight lets see if we can get this sorted, our lives are just to precious to sit there and watch it pass us by. 3. So with you on this! It’s one of the reasons this heifer is buying more fruit and veggies, and plotting the return to the Y (which is also hella awesome for being “social”). I’ve noticed that when I get my body into the pool and do the classes, my depression is less prevalent, and my desire to eat all kinds of crap gets shoved aside for something with actual *gasp* protein. Not toaster pastries! It all works together.

So, here’s the challenge, my friend. You and I both shop primarily around the EDGE of the grocery (dairy, proteins, produce) with a limited number of trips down the aisles… Let’s say no more than 4 for food/pantry items. Gotta have the coffee, and the peanut butter! Aisles for paper items, dish soap, laundry detergent etc don’t count. 3 workouts a week in a social or semi social environment. If we miss a workout publicly, we have to hand out with a friend for at least half an hour.

Let’s get our asses in gear, and in shape, and twist the damned horns right off that bull!

  5. Each of these journeys begins a single step–away from the fridge, out the door, off to something you enjoy and on to the next thing that will serve as a challenge and inspiration. So off your butt and on your feet, then take that first step. (According to my fit bit, I’m at 9,000 steps today.)

  6. πŸ™‹πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ I completely understand this. On the outside I appear happy as a clam. No one knows these demons I face. A lot of my guilt comes from this. I feel like a giant imposter at times.

  7. Personally, I think being and staying sober is more like the RUNNING OF THE BULLS contest, where our greatest hope is to dodge the bastards and just stay alive!!! Any little victory along the way is a gift. Keep on keeping on, Dwight. (((((((Hugs))))))) πŸ‘πŸ’œ
