Going for it – Enjoying the great outdoors (Week 11)

Had a great week rucking, walking, hiking, and mountain biking. The weather has been just perfect. Feeling pretty motivated health wise and just can’t but help pushing myself as I described in my last post. Afterwards I’m spent but feeling so relaxed and happy. Best therapy ever!

Week 11

Didn’t hit all my targets, but I’m plugging along…

Turn off the news and Facebook and get outdoors and see all the beauty around us. Have a great week!

  1. Love this. I’ve been yearning to do something physically hard and be disconnected from modern life. Hard to do with whiny children in tow though :-/

  2. ^^^ That was totally an excuse. I should make this kind of thing more of a priority with or without children.

    1. You definitely need to be a priority my friend. I know moms need and DESERVE time away and believe me the spouses can suck it up and deal…💯

  3. I love all these posts Dwight and I’m so glad I came back into word press to read them. I think I need this connection. Felt so low earlier due to work stress etc but when I read your posts, and others’ too, I feel like there is more to our lives than work and if we have enough to live on then maybe my focus should be less on work and more on new interests and challenges outside of the day to day routine. Does that. Are sense? I need change. Keep blogging. I love it! 🤗🤗

    1. So glad they resonate with you, Claire. My hope is always someone can relate to what I’m laying down. Connecting with others is just the best! It totally makes sense and I highly recommend reading Michael Easter’s book The Comfort Crisis: Embrace Discomfort To Reclaim Your Wild, Happy, Healthy Self where he explains why we feel like you describe. Maybe you’ll come up with a big juicy physical challenge that will rock your world! 😊🤗

  4. I absolutely loved reading that your feeling very relaxed and happy! 😍 You are always inspiring me! I feel like blasting that song in Rocky, “Eye Of The Tiger” now! I got a bit overworked and stopped my daily exercises. Need to start a routine again! I’m very thankful you blog here and I got to “meet” you! 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

    1. Ahhh…let’s crank that song up for sure!!! Loveeee it! Working out use to be the very first thing that would get pulled from my list when I too was overworked. Looking back for me this was the exact opposite of what I should of been doing. With my history with depression it would be comparable to someone who took meds to just stop taking those. I don’t know how many times I’d bypass my daily exercise routines to work 10 – 12 hour days only to shortly thereafter spiral down so far where I’d have to take several days off work laying in bed with the pillow over my head. Like I said these exercise are my therapy the only thing I’ve found that works for me. I’m so much better afterwards that I actually think clearer, more creative, and can get more done in a shorter amount of time. And it’s fun and I’m totally looking forward to it! I understand some folks don’t have a choice to have to overwork. I get that. But if somehow there is a way to carve out a dedicated routine…DO IT. Your mind, body, and soul will give you thank you hugs daily. So glad you are here Jackie! We definitely connect!!!

  5. THIS IS WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR!!! Thank you so very much!! I’m excited also that your looking forward to working out too! I bet when I get into a routine I will as well. It always helped me out in my past. Yesterday I didn’t get home until near 7pm. Today though I am home at 5pm, going to make sure to start a workout routine. You have me pumped and looking forward to it!!! 😍😃😍😃 Again so glad you’re here and love our connection!!!

  7. 100% agree..in fact ive been so busy with this kind of stuff i haven’t really had much time to blog..i always noted that when i decreased my exercise and outdoor time i would spiral down pretty quickly..so i started slowly back up with yoga and walking and now really enjoying the weight lifting again..keeps me sane and not as depressed/anxious!
