Books

Second time around.

Happy November, my friends!

I don’t have a burning topic this week, so I thought I’d share two books I’m rereading. This time around, the ideas seem to resonate more deeply. Maybe you just have to be in rhythm with a book for it to really land?

Most of you are probably familiar with them. I won’t try to summarize, since I couldn’t do them justice, but I will say both explore being present — focusing on the now, observing your thoughts and emotions, and learning to use your thoughts as tools rather than being ruled by them.

📖 The Power of Now – Eckhart Tolle

📖 Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself – Dr. Joe Dispenza

Take another look at your bookshelf. Maybe one of your books is calling you to reread it. Maybe NOW is the time.

  1. I haven’t heard of either of those books but will definitely look into them. Right now, I’m over here reading Steven Kings book, Christine. 😂

  2. I know that Eckhart Tolle has some brilliant insights. But I have his “The Power of Now” and I just could not get past the first couple of chapters. Maybe it is time for me to try again. 👍

  4. I read Power of Now many years ago and got a lot from it. Hadn’t heard of the Dispenza title. Adding both to my Libby holds list!

  5. I’ve read The Power of Now twice and thumb through it from time to time. I’m reading Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself right now. Joe Dispenza is one of my favorites. I love his YouTue e content as wells ! I’ve been starting my day with him. 🙂

    1. That’s really neat, Joe! I’m finding myself more and more aligned with what Dr. Joe is laying down. Recently, I had a thought that triggered an old emotion — it felt so real it completely swept me up for a moment. Then I caught myself looking at it instead of through it and realized, “Wait, that was years ago. That emotion doesn’t belong to who I am today.” That little awareness moment inspired me to pick up his book again.
