Over a week of mindful eating

The honeymoon – pink cloud phase is going well. Here are some things I’ve learned and experienced while eating mindfully this last week.

Prior:

  • I realized that many times I had been literally just throwing food and drink into me continuously without hardly tasting any of it.
  • There was little respect given to my body and what it needed. If I was hungry but it was still my morning fasting time, I wouldn’t eat. If I was full but still had food on my plate, I’d finish it.
  • There was plenty of “The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly” chatter around food that happened several times a day.
  • I would eat, sometimes binge eat, based on my emotions.

Now:

  • Without distractions while I’m eating, such as a device, TV, or reading material, I’ve turned my meals into a focused, calming space. It’s a place where I can check in with myself and reconnect.
  • With more focus on my eating, I’m starting to look at what I am putting into my body. Is it nutritional?
  • I’m eating more consistently and less chaotically, which seems to keep me more in tune with my inner rhythm.
  • After breakfast and lunch, I’m able to do my work with a sharper mind.
  • I’m eating dinner a few hours before bedtime and sleeping much better.
  • I’m not as sleepy right after dinner.
  • Other areas, like personal hygiene, have improved too.

Mindful Eating Day 8

  1. I practice intuitive eating myself, I started in 2019 with an ED nutritionist. It’s a process and it has been life changing to me. I had an eating disorder and disordered eating. Relearning my body cues and actually listening is amazing. Keep up the good sworn! Rooting for you😊
