The Power of Touch

Connecting

Alice

I let her out

Start the coffee

Fill up her bowl with food

Fill up her water

Turn up the heat

Make my bed

Lay out my vitamins

Fill up my cup

Walk over to my recliner

She jumps down

I pick up the blanket, sit, and place it over me

She jumps up

I can feel her warmth from where she’s been sleeping all night

We settle in

I plop a piece of blanket over her

I pet the side of her face as she pushes into my hand

She looks up at me and gives me a smooch

We relax back

With her head resting on my hand

She sighs

I sigh

10,000 things in one sigh

We’re goodness times two

We need touch

Crave it

Feeling that contact of you’re here

I’m here

We’ve got each other

The gratefulness

The Love

We allow ourselves to get all stirred and tangle uP in our daily lives. Pushed this way and that. Forgetting who we are. Giving importance to whatever blows our way.

Left mentally and emotionally exhausted.

Stop for a minute

Hold someone’s hand

Give them a hug

Kiss their cheek

She sighed

I sighed

We connected to The Way,

Dwight

  1. Love it, Dwight. I love the connection you have with Alice. (I was waiting for you to settle in and get perfectly comfortable so Alice could jump up to be let out. Maybe that’s just a Molly thing. 🙄)

    1. That’s an after work thing. I get all chill ready to drink a tea and then she pulls that number.😀
