Hot Summer Night

Take Me Back

It’s past my bedtime, and I’m ripping through the canyon, heading home to the mountains. All the windows are down. I’m in my ’92 Cherokee, and my phone is cranking the Eagles on Pandora.

As I wind around the corners and feel the cool air wash over me, I’m briefly transported back 43 years to when I was 17. I remember hot, sticky summer nights when the only relief came from driving with the windows down.

I’m young.
I’m free.
No worries.
Just the road ahead.
And good tunes.

I’m still smiling. What a trip it’s been.

  1. I can feel it – Eagles, windows down, moonlight, wind in my hair – good memories of our youth! I think I need to take a drive myself!
