Don’t wait to figure it all out

It’s okay if we can’t see the big picture yet. Move forward with what is resonating within now!

Have you ever had an idea of what you wanted to do or become, and then your thoughts talked you out of it because there’s no possible way you could succeed? What instead of negating our ideas so fast, we started to slowly brew a small action in our new interest. No huge declaration to the universe. No big investments where we leverage our life savings. Just a small little brewing off to the side where our thoughts don’t feel threatened and try to beat it down. Yes, it is pretty fricked up we might need to do this dance, but the saying know thyself is pretty right on.

I’m guessing many of us have felt this way. Our thoughts will say we’re not smart enough, talented enough, young enough, or where in the hell are you going to come up with the money to partake in that adventure?

Even though everyone says to ignore those thoughts and fears they still feel very real. Right? What instead of going after the “whole prize” we just explore one very small piece. We don’t have to master it and own it. We can pretend we’re back in our youth exploring that old house in the woods. If we open the door and hear a thug upstairs, no problem, run like hell back home. After you’ve calmed down and are ready to peak again, give it another try. See how long you can stay after you’ve opened “that” door.

The big picture doesn’t have to be clear at this stage. We’re growing it as we go. We just need an interest to explore and put in some research and tiny actions. Remember, we didn’t signup for anything yet. Nobody has to know of this new thing. The costs don’t need to be high at this stage and shouldn’t be high! You don’t need the top of the line X to get started. There’s tons of information on the internet to help you get educated without having to go back to university or signing up for a 10 course program costing big bucks. Get creative. Join a an interest group like Meetup or take 1 course on something like Udemy or LinkIn Learning. Heck, just go to the library and checkout a free book on your interest and while you’re there ask a librarian for more information.

The point is take a step toward your interest. You don’t have to have everything figured out and this stage and if you do, well that might not be a good thing …ha. What’s interesting is as you move along you also start carving out your own custom path. Keep alert. Is this your direction or someone else’s? Stay on YOUR path even if it’s a bit messy and confusing at times. Have faith in yourself.

You are more than worthy and capable of accomplishing your dreams. It does indeed seem more than overwhelming at times and scary. Often if we haven’t beaten ourselves down over and over, those in our environment may have. You must remember though you were intended here for much goodness and to completely shine. It’s already all in the acorn. Start your small brew today!

Peace,

Dwight

Would love to hear what’s brewing in your world?

  1. Hi Dwight,

You are so right. Often when we embark on something new or consider whether to pursue a dream, our human nature has a tendency to go all guns blazing when in reality it makes more sense to tread the water slowly and gradually so we get a feel for it and we can stop ourselves from drowning before we’ve learnt to swim. Good luck with any new endeavours 😊

  5. After reading your post a few minutes ago, I think I should focus on what I have for the time being. Not a new path – just investing a few minutes each day to polishing the one I am on – then maybe branching out on a new path or cracking open a new door. No matter where life takes me, what I have now will still be my priorities – my health, my husband, our finances, our family, our Molly dog… 🙄

  6. Love this Dwight! I’ve really got to buckle down on my 5K race. I’ve looked and just haven’t found one yet that’s close. There’s one but it’s at a big campus where the parking and craziness would annoy me at the gate. Have to keep looking and seal the deal. I only want to do it once, just to meet my goal of running a 5k. ( Still laughing I had my goal but you had to clarify my 3 miles is a 5k ) 😂😂😂
It’s also quite nerve wracking for me. It’s a whole new experience and not familiar with the procedures before and after a run….but I must proceed forward. Love your blogs my friend!!! ❤️

    1. Thank you, Jackie. It’s going to be a great experience for you! The perfect amount of unknown and challenge. Like I’ve said before if you’re nervous excited, you’re probably on the right path.

    2. cool, Jackie…ive done a few 5k ‘s ( way way back early thru mid 2000’s) the first one was a huge deal for me..i was so excited but very nervous..manay of them are super annoying at first with just getting your tags and such. but after a few of them it will become old hat:) Have fun with it..and p.s. a lot of the ones i did also allowed walkers so that no one felt left out- plus it was a great escape plan if i needed it without looking like a slow poke…haha!

      1. I’m actually quite nervous due to it being a whole new thing I’m doing on my own. I honestly am not a huge runner. 5 days a week I was running a mile before working out. I really liked that. I decided I wanted to run one 5k. I want to say I have ran one. I will have to look into ones that possibly allow walkers! That would make me feel much better!!! I know my time won’t be competitive but the ability to walk if needed would be great! Thanks for that idea!

  7. this is spot on, Dwight, and very much what i like to do for a few weeks or months before i get too excited about any new project or make any announcements. Believe it or not, i am pretty secretive about my interests and research and don’t put anything out there until i’m at least 80% sure i’m going to pursue it. I only go full bore after i release the throttle- and there’s always brakes in an emergency..lmao..
