No Surrender.

That’s the line buzzing around in my head lately.
In less than a week, Alice and I will be pulling out of the driveway in the camper van and heading south, then east.
First stop, Albuquerque to see my sister. Then Tennessee to see my daughter. From there, up to Virginia to see my brother, and finally on to New York to see my other sister and my mom.
I’m pretty damn excited.
I think what I’m looking forward to most is stepping away from my current routine, my comfort zones, and most of my online activity for a while. Just getting out there, exploring, making new discoveries, and seeing what I find along the way.
Fall is one of my favorite times to travel. Less traffic. Cooler temperatures. Crisp air. There’s just something about being on the road when the seasons are changing.
So maybe this is my version of busting out of class. Being unplugged from the internet for a while, out where the signal gets spotty and the noise finally quiets down.
Not running away from life, but stepping away from the usual routine long enough to experience a little more of it.
I’m looking forward to seeing family, putting some miles on the van, and seeing what the road has to teach me.
