How to be happy

I came across this the other night reading Matt Haig’s book Notes on a Nervous Planet:

1. Do not compare yourself to other people.

2. Do not compare yourself to other people.

3. Do not compare yourself to other people.

4. Do not compare yourself to other people.

5. Do not compare yourself to other people.

6. Do not compare yourself to other people.

7. Do not compare yourself to other people.

It took up one whole page and nothing else was written. So simple. So true.

It was a good reminder to me that we are all unique expressions INTENDED HERE to SHINE in our own way!

Peace,

Dwight 🦋

This is amazing. The greatest source of our unhappiness is due to comparison. Atleast it was to me. This was something I struggled with. I think what helps is to realize how small we actually are in the universe. For instance, when we climb a high mountain, every tree seems to be the same size, as opposed to when you are on the ground, everything differs in measure. The higher up we go, the more equal everything seems to be. So if we try to look at everyone from this higher perspective, the gap between our differences closes, and we come to understand that we are all pretty much the same..

  3. This IS a good reminder, Dwight, but the tendency to compare ourselves is deeply ingrained, and not easy to overcome. Something else for us to work on.
