Memories of love

As I stood at the front window yesterday, waiting for my son Bob and his girlfriend Emily to arrive for Thanksgiving, I couldn’t help but think about my brother-in-law Joe. Time stopped and memories replayed.
Whenever you pulled into Joe’s driveway, he’d burst out the front door before you even had the car in park. He’d open your door, help you out, and before you could even straighten up, you were wrapped in one of his legendary bear hugs.
Let me tell you—between that hug, his big smile, and those sparkling eyes, you felt beyond loved.
Joe has since passed, but the love he gave lives deeply in my heart. I think for many of us, the holidays stir up that kind of memory—the kind that reminds us how deeply we’ve been loved over the years.
So, in the spirit of Joe, I greeted the kids outside as they pulled up… and hugged them with all the love I had.
Love is so precious. Pass it along.
